In 1978 Van Halen began their first world tour, as an opening act on a bill that also included Black Sabbath and Journey, with a show at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. The group was on the road behind their self-titled debut album. In 1992 Nirvana's Kurt Cobain lapsed into a coma in Italy after taking a combination of Valium and champagne. Nine Inch Nails' album "Pretty Hate Machine" was certified Gold. In 1995 R.E.M. drummer Bill Berry underwent surgery in Lausane, Switzerland, to stop a bleeding brain aneurysm. In 2003 Bono received the Humanitarian Award at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards. In 2005 Motley Crue made an appearance on the syndicated daytime talk show "Live with Regis and Kelly." Green Day was a performer and a multiple award winner at the first MTV Australia Video Music Awards. Simple Plan also performed while the Osbournes hosted the event, which took place at Luna Park in Sydney. In 2006 The members of Nickelback met up with former NHL great Wayne Gretzky, who's the coach of the Phoenix Coyotes, before the band's concert in Arizona. During their visit they hit the ice together and posed for some photos. In 2008 An attorney for Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland revealed that the singer was out of rehab, after spending 28 days in a treatment facility. In 2010 U2 released their twelfth studio album "No Line on the Horizon" in the U.S. The band celebrated the release with a week's worth of performances on the "Late Show with David Letterman."<
