Mathis Announces Plans For His 75th Birthday
Johnny Mathis is announcing his plans for turning "75 years young" next month. The enduring crooner says on his website that, quote, "true to his hardworking roots" he'll be performing in Baltimore, Maryland at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on his big day, September 30th. The date is part of Mathis' extensive tour schedule through the end of 2010, which also includes stops in St. Louis, Missouri; Fresno, California, and Branson, Missouri.
In related news, Mathis' country album "Let It Be Me - Live In Nashville" is slated for a September 21st release. The project features a few high-profile duets between Mathis and members of country's elite. He sings the album's title track, "Let It Be Me," with Alison Krauss. Vince Gill joins Mathis on "Lovin' Arms." Other classic country singles featured on "Let It Be Me" include "Crazy," "Love Me Tender," and "You Don't Know Me."
