Big Names Collaborate On Ray Davies' Duets Album
Kinks frontman Ray Davies is putting fresh touches on his catalog with a little help from some high-profile friends. Davies' still-untitled duets album is expected before the end of the year. The blog "Hipsters United" reports that The Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan appears on the project, singing with Davies on a version of the 1981 hit, "Destroyer." Bruce Springsteen also shows up on "Better Things." Another act out of New Jersey, Bon Jovi, makes an appearance on "Celluloid Heroes." The late Alex Chilton, Lucinda Williams, Spoon, Mumford & Sons, Frank Black, Amy MacDonald, and Paloma Faith are also contributors. However, a previously reported collaboration with The Killers will not be a part of the final album. In related news, it was just last month that Davies announced the sale of the historic Konk Studios. In addition to The Kinks, the English studio has hosted the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Elvis Costello, Culture Club, and pop stars Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue.
