In 1978 -- The Police made a deal with A&M records.
In 1986 -- Thompson Twins' "King for A Day" peaked at number eight on the pop singles chart.
In 1988 -- Morrissey released the album "Viva Hate."
In 1994 -- Ozzy Osbourne's album "Blizzard Of Oz" was certified multi-Platinum.
In 1995 -- R.E.M.'s album "Monster" was certified multi-Platinum.
In 1996 -- Bob Marley and the Wailers album "Legend" was certified multi-Platinum.
In 1997 -- U2's album "Pop" debuted at number one on the Hot 200 chart.
In 2000 -- AC/DC was honored by the town of Leganes, Spain, with the unveiling of the street "Calle de AC/DC." Band member Angus Young was there for the presentation.
In 2001 -- They Might Be Giants kicked off a tour in support of the "Malcolm in the Middle" soundtrack with a show in Tallahassee, Florida. The band contributes the Fox TV show's theme song, "Boss of Me" to the mix.
In 2003 -- Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose sent the Offspring a cease and desist letter after the group announced plans to name their next album "Chinese Democrazy (You Snooze You Lose)." Back in 1999 GNR had said its next album would be called "Chinese Democracy," but to date no album has surfaced yet.
In 2004 -- "US Weekly" reported that Marilyn Manson proposed to longtime girlfriend Dita von Teese.
In 2005 -- The Black Crowes launched its reunion with the first of seven shows at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom.

Billy Idol released the album "Devil's Playground," his first set of new studio material in more than a decade.
In 2006 -- Kid Rock was accused of assault after his bodyguards were said to have roughed up a photographer outside a club in Los Angeles, then he then allegedly took the camera and drove away with the guards.< |
