Remembering Alex Chilton
The music world is mourning the death of Alex Chilton. The death of the rocker who inspired generations of musicians to follow drew reaction from the industry. Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla noted via Twitter, quote, "I have very few true musical heroes, but Alex Chilton was one. Thank you dearly, and rest in peace. I can hardly type it." Producer Butch Walker says, quote, "Alex, Where Are You? - sad day for the classic power pop fans. Listen to some old Big Star if you haven't. Alex Chilton is gone, but not forgotten." Silversun Pickups' Brian Aubert echoes Walker with, quote, "RIP Alex Chilton...What would the world be like without Big Star."
Alex Chilton, best known for his work with The Box Tops and Big Star, died suddenly Wednesday. The vocalist was admitted to a New Orleans hospital complaining of heart problems just prior to his passing. Chilton was 59. |
