Ash Snags Bloc Party Guitarist For UK Tour
Bloc Party's break is good news for Ash, who have snapped up guitarist Russell Lissack for a guest stint. Lissack is fairly familiar with the music, as he once played in an Ash tribute band prior to joining Bloc Party, but he admits he still has a lot of ground to cover. The rocker tells BBC's 6Music, quote, "I've got over ten years in the back catalog to revise at the moment, so there are a lot of late nights for me." Russell says he jumped at the opportunity to sit in with the group when Ash frontman Tim Wheeler reached out to him with an invite last month. Wheeler says he welcomes Lissack, noting he's giving Ash a second guitarist for the first time since Charlotte Hatherley split in 2006. The singer adds that it's allowing Ash to revisit certain tracks in concert that need two guitarists. Ash will be hitting the road with Lissack this spring. They'll launch a UK tour in Southampton on April 19th. But Ash isn't the only thing keeping Lissack occupied during his time away from Bloc Party. He says he's also working on an electronic side project titled Pin Me Down.
