Stone Temple Pilots Taking Control With New CD
The reunited Stone Temple Pilots have a year-plus of touring under their belts and are now prepping for their first new studio album since 2001's "Shangri-La Dee Da." Guitarist Dean DeLeo tells ARTISTdirect.com that being back together in the studio was a fresh experience for the group. He explains, quote, "It was better because we had the luxury of working out of Eric Kretz's gorgeous studio, Bomb Shelter, and we had no producer." He notes that he and his brother, STP's bassist Robert DeLeo took on the chore of producing the material. Dean adds that the group has been working on the project for a while. He explains, quote, "We actually made this record in between going in and out of tour. We didn't have this time constraint, we didn't have to appease a producer and work under his time constraint." DeLeo says the extra time allowed them to let their songs live and grow to their full potential. Stone Temple Pilots' new self-titled album is due May 25th. |
