Ok Go Goes Free From EMI
OK Go are parting ways with EMI and taking control of their own careers by launching the Paracadute label, which will oversee the distribution and promotion functions for the band. The group recently released their "Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky" album. Singer Damian Kulash says, quote, "We'd like to thank the people who have worked so hard on our behalf, and we'd like to thank our fans for making this choice an easy one for us." The group recently made headlines when questioning their former label's embedding policy for their videos, which had upset fans who alerted the band. OK Go continue to be known for their ground-breaking clips, including the flashy "WTF" clip, and the two videos for "This Too Shall Pass." The first one featured the band playing in a field with the Notre Dame marching band, and the second had the group taking part in a Rube Goldberg-type machine with plenty of bells and whistles. The exit from EMI Music was reportedly a mutual agreement and will become effective April 1st.
