Bowie Reacts To BBC Plans To Close 6 Music
David Bowie is not happy with the changes the BBC has planned for its 6 Music station. HollywoodReporter.com reports that the usually private music star issued a statement about his concern over the impending closure of the UK radio station that champions lesser known acts. The rocker said, quote, "6 Music keeps the spirit of broadcasters like John Peel alive and for new artists to lose this station would be a great shame." The late John Peel was a UK deejay who built a reputation for finding diamonds in the rough.
Bowie isn't the only one speaking up about 6 Music's closure. Several music business leaders have written to Mark Thompson, the Director General of the BBC in an attempt to halt the closure. |
