Nickelback, Tragically Hip, Metric Take Juno Nominations
ickelback, The Tragically Hip, and Metric are among the rock nominees for Canada's upcoming Juno Awards. Nickelback has two bids. The group is vying for the Juno Fan Choice Award, while their CD "Dark Horse" is up for Rock Album of the Year. Others in the Album category includes Alexisonfire's "Old Crows/Young Cardinals," Three Days Grace's "Life Starts Now," and The Tragically Hip's "We Are The Same" -- which is one of three nominations for that band. The Tragically Hip is also a contender for Group of the Year, while their song "Love is a First" is up for Single of the Year. Metric is also vying for Group of the Year, and the band's CD "Fantasies" joins Tegan & Sara's "Sainthood" in the Alternative Album of the Year category. Kings Of Leon, a big winner on this side of the border at January's GRAMMY Awards, is among those seeking International Album of the Year recognition with their set "Only By The Night." Metric is among the first confirmed performers for the event. The 2010 Juno Awards, Canada's equivalent to the GRAMMYs, will be presented in ceremonies in St John's, Newfoundland on April 17th and 18th. [[Note subject matter in the following story.]]
