The Better Halves, the wives and girlfriends of Cavaliers players, coaches, management and staff will host Take the Court, a leap year themed cocktail party that will feature silent and live auctions to raise funds and awareness for The Children’s Tumor Foundation. The special event will be held on Friday, February 29th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., prior to that night’s Cavaliers vs. Minnesota game at Quicken Loans Arena. The Children’s Tumor Foundation is dedicated to improving the health and well being of individuals and families affected by Neurofibromatosis.

Guests will enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine and cocktails while mingling with members of previous Cavaliers leap year teams that will include Campy Russell, Austin Carr, Bingo Smith, Foots Walker, Jim Brewer, current Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry and others to be announced soon. Cavs majority owner Dan Gilbert and his wife Jennifer will also be in attendance.

The silent auction will feature one-of-a-kind baskets representing each current Cavaliers player that is filled with their favorite things and includes an autographed item. There will also be unique leap year baskets— 1972, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004— filled with the hottest items from that year and an autographed item from a Cavaliers Legend from that team.

The live auction will include:

• Autographed LeBron James Olympic jersey
• Trip for two on the team plane to Detroit on March 29th, includes hotel, tickets to the game and more
• Skills competition (HORSE, Knockout, 3 point shooting contest) at Cleveland Clinic Courts against the Cavs’ GM Danny Ferry and coaches— includes lunch and tour of the new player development facility

Tickets for the Take the Court cocktail reception are $50 and are available by calling 216-420-2290. For those interested in attending the Take the Court reception, game tickets for the Cavaliers vs. Minnesota at 7:30 p.m. will be required.
