Cavaliers to Hold Tool Drive for Habitat For Humanity |
| |
The Cavaliers are participating in the NBA’s league-wide 2010 Green Week initiative by holding their own Sustainability Awareness Night activities on Tuesday, April 6th vs. the Toronto Raptors at 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, April 9th vs. the Indiana Pacers at 7:30 p.m. Each game will be dedicated to promoting fan activation and education about eco-friendly behavior.
To paraphrase Cavs Legend and Fox Sports Ohio broadcaster Austin Carr, the team is asking fans to “Throw the Hammer Down!” to support the Cavaliers Tool Drive to benefit Habitat for Humanity by donating new and used tools that will be collected in bins outside of Quicken Loans Arena at each game.
A Cavs “Local Favorites” partner, Ingersoll Hardware will also be a collection site for the tool drive. The public can donate tools April 5-10 at Ingersoll’s two locations, 19333 Detroit Rd. in Rocky River and 27531 Detroit Rd. in Westlake.
The donated items will be sold at the organization’s ReStore, a recycled building materials store located at 2110 W. 110th Street in Cleveland. Proceeds from ReStore will be used to help Habitat for Humanity build and rehab home for those in need. Items most desired are hammers, saws, sanders, tape measures, cordless screw guns, angle drills, six and four foot levels.
