Time's running out to take advantage of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's discounted winter admission rates. Through Wednesday, March 31, Zoo tickets are just $7 per person, $5 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children under 2 and Zoo members.
The Zoo's regular admission rates return on Thursday, April 1. Regular Zoo ticket prices are $10 per person, $7 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children under 2 and Zoo members.
On Saturday, March 27, the Zoo's Australian Adventure opens for its 11th season of fun. The 8-acre attraction is home to a diverse collection of animals from the Land Down Under, including kangaroos and wallabies at the Wallaby Walkabout, New Guinea singing dogs next to the Ballarat Theater and koalas and tree kangaroos at the GumLeaf Hideout. Kids can also get close to donkeys, goats, sheep and miniature horses in the Contact Yard.
Australian Adventure also is home to the Lorikeet Landing aviary -- where you can feed nectar to colorful birds - the Boomerang Express train ride and the 55-foot-tall Yagga Tree play area. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Australian-themed live animal show is held several times daily at the Ballarat Theater.
Northeast Ohio's most-visited year-round attraction, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 77, 90 and 480.
